EA Will Lower The Price Of StarWars BattleFront II Heroes By 75%

Eletronic Arts got into a big controversy today: after some players got their hands on Star Wars Battlefront II, they found that some of the characters needed dozens of hours to be unlocked with in-game credits microtransactions), resulting in a gigantic claim wave. Now the producer has gone back on the decision.

Initially, EA Games responded in a Reddit post that unlocking the heroes at the suggested price was a way to create a sense of achievement, generating the sense of “pride and accomplishment by unlocking different characters.” As you might guess, the shot backfired and resulted in one of the most negative responses in Reddit’s history.

Hours later, Electronic Arts went back and responded to the community that will change the prices of heroes and villains from tomorrow, changing the price by up to 75% of the original value. Darth Vader, who would cost 60,000 credits, will cost 15,000. Luke Skywalker will cost 15,000 also, Chewbacca, Leia Organa and Emperor Palpatine will cost 10,000 (before they cost 40,000); finally, Iden Versio will cost 5 thousand.

According to EA, those values were decided because of the Beta, but “clearly they needed more changes.” Honestly, putting the full value of all these, it still seems pretty expensive to release all the characters, right? So even with 75% lower values, it will still be necessary to play many tens of hours to have all Star Wars heroes and villains. What do you think?

Star Wars Battlefront II  will arrive on November 17 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
